Biography
Position:Senior Researcher
Dr. Ioannis Zacharoudiou is a physicist with a strong foundation in both theory and computational methods. He received his BSc in Physics from the University of Cyprus and his PhD in Physics at the University of Oxford. Following his doctorate, he held postdoctoral research positions at Imperial College London and University College London.
Throughout his career, he has developed deep expertise in fluid mechanics and soft condensed matter, with a particular focus on numerical simulation techniques. He has extensive experience on the use of the Lattice Boltzmann method for multiphase‐flow modeling and leveraged GPU programming (CUDA C/C++, HIP and Intel’s oneAPI) to accelerate complex scientific algorithms.
His current research interests encompass:
Multiphase flow in porous media
Soft matter and complex fluids
Geological CO₂ sequestration
High-performance computer simulations, including the free‐energy Lattice Boltzmann method and GPU-accelerated numerical methods
Blood flow modeling
Ioannis combines rigorous physical insight with cutting-edge computational tools to advance our understanding of complex fluid systems.
