Position:Postdoctoral Fellow (2026-present), Interdisciplinary Research Center for Refining & Advanced Chemicals (IRC-RAC), KFUPM.
Dr. Mahesh Nadda holds a BTech in Mechanical Engineering and MTech in CAD/CEM from HPU Simula and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, India. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Interdisciplinary Research Center for Refining & Advanced Chemicals (IRC-RAC), KFUPM. His research interests are primarily focused on gas–solid flow systems, particularly fluidized bed reactors, involving hydrodynamics, heat and mass transfer modelling, and experimentally validated studies using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques. He is also expert in integrating machine learning (ML) techniques with numerical modelling to develop faster and more efficient simulation frameworks. His research expertise also includes the integration of machine learning with CFD/CFD-DEM simulations through Reduced Order Modelling (ROM) and Deep Neural Network (DNN), as well as Recurrent Neural Network (RNN)-based algorithms. He possesses hands-on experience in the experimental characterization of industrial reactors using the Radioactive Particle Tracking (RPT) technique for hydrodynamic and thermal measurements. Dr. Nadda also has valuable industrial experience, having worked as a Senior Project Engineer at Tridiagonal Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune, India, where he contributed to projects in the pharmaceutical, chemical, oil and gas, and food processing industries. In addition, he conducted collaborative research with Altair Engineering during his PhD at Indian Institute of Technology Jammu. He is currently conducting his Postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Christos D. Argyropoulos as a member of the CFD & HSE Simulation Research Group.
